Student Services Center – Admissions Tab
This resource explains the various sections of the Admissions tab within the Student Services Center pages in MyBU Student. This resource is for staff across schools and colleges to see student application and related data.
Introduction
The Admissions tab in the Student Services Center provides historical information regarding the student’s application process, including Application Data, their Applicant Progression stages, External Education, and Test Summary.
Student Services Center (SSC) consolidates student data from various areas of MyBU Student in one page. Please refer to the Introduction to Student Services Center resource for a general overview, or if detailed instructions are needed for one of the other tabs, please refer to that resource: Student Center, General Info, Transfer Credit, Academics, and Financial Aid.

Navigation & Application Data
- Navigate to Student Services Center:
- From the Dashboard left menu, scroll to Student Services Center.
- From the Full Site homepage, navigate to: Compass at top right of Nav Bar > Menu > Campus Community > Student Services Center.
- To find a student, enter the student’s available data in the Find an Existing Value window that displays, and select Search.
- The student’s Service Center page will open. Click the Admissions tab to view available data, based on security.
CAREER/APPLICATION NBR/PROGRAM
Data related to the student’s application is displayed at the top of the Admissions tab page.

- In the example below, the student had one application, application Number 00017144, for the Undergraduate Career, UCOM Academic Program.
- Students with multiple applications will have multiple entries available for selection on the left.
Selecting the appropriate Academic Program from the left-side hierarchical view triggers data regarding that application to display in a box on the right (as shown above). See image Data that displays includes:
- Application Nbr: Each application is assigned a number.
- Program Nbr: Starts at 0 and is incremented with each additional Academic Program with an application.
- Program Status: The Status is the step in which the student exists in the admissions process as of the date reflected. Common Statuses include:
- Applicant: Application received.
- Admitted: Admitted, but has not yet paid deposit.
- Prematric: Formerly known as mutual acceptance; deposit has been paid (pre-matriculation).
- Active: Matriculation has occurred, causing the student to be ‘Active.’ Matriculation is the process that officially creates the student’s academic record.
- Program: The Academic Program (i.e., school/college) attached to the record on the effective date listed beside the Program Status.
- Plan: The Academic Plan (i.e., major) attached to the record on the effective date listed beside the Program Status.
- Sub-Plan: When a student is also in a Sub-Plan, it will display here as well.
- Last School Attended/City/State/Graduation Date: Lists the last university or school the student attended, location, and graduation date, if it exists.
- Financial Aid Interest: Lists whether the application data notes an interest in financial aid consideration.
- Housing Interest: Lists whether the application data notes an interest in commuter or on-campus housing.
Clicking the Edit Application Data button in this section provides access to the ‘Maintain Applications’ page, for those with security permissions.
Applicant Progression
The Applicant Progression section shows additional information about the student’s application stages.
- Institution: Boston University.
- Admit Term: The latest requested admit term.
- Program Status/Action/Reason: These three fields go together to provide additional granularity regarding a student’s status. For example, as the status progresses, events will be added to the record, such as:
- When they receive a ‘Program Action’ & ‘Reason’ of Matriculation, their ‘Program Status’ becomes ‘Active’.
External Education
The External Education section references any institution other than Boston University, including high schools, colleges, and universities. This section lists transcript status, credits attempted and completed and grade point average at those institutions.
Clicking the Edit Education Data button (shown above) opens the External Academic Summary page, where external institutions (i.e., high schools, other universities) can be applied to a student’s record. Available only to those with security permissions.
Test Summary
The Test Results box in the Test Summary section provides details about specific tests including:
- Test ID: The type of test (i.e., AP, IB).
- Test Component: The type of test affiliated with the Test ID. (i.e., BY-Biology; ELC-English Literature & Composition).
- Test Score/Letter Score: The score earned on the test.
- Percentile: The student’s percentile in comparison to others who have taken the exam, when provided.
- Test Date: The date the test was taken and used to determine if the ‘newest’ test results are being used.
- Academic Level: The Academic Level at the time the test was taken.
- Data Source: Where the Test Data originated.
- Date Loaded: The date the test scores were uploaded into MyBU Student.
Clicking the Edit Student Tests button (shown above) opens the Academic Test Results page, where information about test scores can be added to the student’s record. Available only for those with security permissions.
