Rachel Jones, MS

The META HIV CVD Randomized Control Trial has enrolled 175 participants as of March 2026 with 66 participants having completed the study. We anticipate an extension to the enrollment period and are proud of our team’s agile, though arduous, pivot from enrolling patients from Russia to enrolling patients from Nashville, TN. At the beginning of the year, we bid farewell to Grace Wallace, our previous lead coordinator who made that change possible. Grace will be following her creative interests and making a career change. We welcome Rachel Jones into the lead role. Rachel has been an indispensable teammate throughout the duration of the trial and will carry on Grace’s legacy nicely.

The Integrated Metagenomic and Metabolomic Lab Core continues to work on processing samples. The META HIV CVD Cohort project team is working closely with the lab core while simultaneously writing manuscripts for upcoming publications.

The META Admin Core has begun planning the 5th annual meeting, Research on Alcohol and HIV, a satellite meeting to the Research Society on Alcohol’s annual meeting which will take place in San Antonio, TX on June 20, 2026. At the beginning of the year, we also bid a sad farewell to Megan Stewart, our program manager and co-lead for satellite meeting planning, who has moved to a different role in the cardiovascular division. We thank her for her many years of service. The meeting could not have taken off the way it has without the complex processes that Megan created and meticulously maintained.
We are seeking applications for oral and poster presentations for the Research on Alcohol and HIV satellite meeting. Please see our flyer for more information on submitting an abstract and registering for the meeting!
