Auto-Graduation: What’s Changing

This is an overview of information on activities for transitioning to the Auto-Graduation process. Participating Schools/Colleges will be given additional information throughout the implementation.

Current vs. Auto-Grad

This comparison outlines the major differences between the current graduation process and the auto-graduation process.

Current Graduation Process Fully Implemented Auto-Graduation
Driven by internal department graduation application processes and Expected Graduation Term (EGT). Driven by Degree Progress Report (DPR) data and Expected Graduation Term (EGT).
Departments play a critical role during the process, directly updating Graduation Tracking page. Departments play a critical role before automation begins, verifying DPR & EGT data (Grad Tracking not used).
Graduation processing determined by ‘Graduation Review Status’ values on the Graduation Tracking page. Graduation processing determined by ‘Degree Checkout Status’ values on the Graduation Processing page.
More flexible timing for CPP record updates via workflow. CPP record changes must be finalized before batch processing begins. After degree checkout statuses are applied, changes should only be made in rare circumstances (resource coming soon).
Transition/Simulation Process

Before the Term leading up to first Auto-Graduation in MyBU Student production, important activities include:

  • Schools/Colleges Staff: continue performing the current graduation process tasks.
  • OUR Staff: reviewing simulated Degree Checkout Status data (occurs in a test system).

ⓘ Before automation begins, it’s imperative to verify the accuracy of program/plan data, expected graduation term, and Degree Progress information.
