Research Interests & Fieldwork

I looked at how ancient humans choose between various domesticated animals as options for consumption, and what factors play into those choices – particularly during the  Iron Age 1 of the Southern Levant (1200-1000 BCE). I also examined how we measure ancient domesticate calorie counts, and how these calorie measurements can be improved. I’ve spent two years excavating at the Bronze and Iron Age City of Beth Shemesh in Israel, looking at the Bronze Age Collapse and the long-lasting effects it had on the region.
