Boston University women’s ice hockey (6-11-3, 5-6-2 HE) will face Northeastern (16-5-0, 12-1-0 HE) in the first round of the 47th Women’s Beanpot at Walter Brown Arena on Tuesday night.
The teams last met in the Beanpot a year ago in the championship game, when Northeastern goaltender Lisa Jönsson shut out BU in a 4-0 Huskies win. Jönsson has appeared in 17 games this season, making 350 saves and posting a .923 save percentage, and once again anchors Northeastern’s defensive structure.
Earlier this season, the Huskies swept a weekend series from the Terriers, with captain Lily Shannon recording three points across the two games. Shannon and linemate Stryker Zablocki have combined for 55 points so far and will be key offensive threats that BU must contain to pull off an upset.
For the Terriers, the matchup will likely hinge on physical, committed play and strong goaltending. Both BU netminders have been reliable, combining for a .908 save percentage and 579 total saves, though it remains unclear who will get the start in the opener.
Offensively, BU will lean on assistant captains Sydney Healey and Clara Yuhn to drive production. Healey leads the Terriers with 18 points, while Yuhn sits close behind with 13. Their ability to create and finish chances will be critical against Northeastern’s tight defensive unit.
If BU advances, the Terriers will face either Boston College or Harvard in the championship game. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena, with streaming available on ESPN+.
