Gallery: Women’s ice hockey win Friendship Series championship game over Harvard
The Boston University women’s ice hockey team were crowned the champions of the 2026 Friendship Series after defeating Harvard University 3-2. In the first period, Terrier senior forward Riley Walsh scored the first goal of the game, 17:55 minutes into the period. Toward the start of the second period, at 4:18, Harvard tied the score 1-1; but the Terriers responded 36 seconds later with senior forward Lilli Welcke scoring BU’s second goal. Harvard tied the score 2-2 once more at 1:21 into the third period, before Terrier junior forward Neely Nicholson scored the championship-winning goal with nine seconds left in the period. Nicholson was named BU’s Player of the Game for her winning shot, and junior goaltender Mari Pietersen earned the Player of the Tournament title for her 63 saves and .940 save percentage over the two games of the tournament.
