Gallery: Women’s hockey secures win in Friendship Series over Quinnipiac University
The Boston University women’s hockey team played to a 2-2 tie and won the shootout in their first game of the Friendship Series against Quinnipiac University. In the first period, Quinnipiac held the lead with a 2-0 score against BU. However, in the second and third periods, BU caught up with a goal in the second and in the third with 8:23 left in regulation by senior forward Sydney Healey, making the score 2-2. Neither team scored in overtime, leading to a shootout to determine the team that would advance to the championship game. Junior goaltender Mari Pietersen blocked all three Quinnipiac shots on the goal, and senior forward Lilli Welcke was the only shooter to score, leaving BU the winners and securing their spot in the championship game.
