Gallery: Men’s hockey victorious in final game at Matthews Arena

Scoring two goals twenty seconds apart and in the final two minutes of the game, the Boston University men’s hockey team rallied a late comeback win to close off their first half of the season in the final game ever played at Matthews Arena. The Huskies struck first and twice, once on the power play and then at even strength, but sophomore forward Brandon Svoboda managed to cut Northeastern’s lead in half in the 18th minute of the first period. Sophomore forward Sacha Boisvert tied the game at two a piece in the x minute of the second period, but the Huskies found the back of the net again with one second left in the middle frame off a defensive turnover by BU. The Terriers found the equalizer with the extra attacker, when sophomore forward Kamil Bednarik cleaned up a rebound shot from classmate Cole Eiserman in the 18th minute of the third period. Then, 18 seconds later, Svoboda gloved down the puck at the blue line and fought off his Northeastern defender and shot the puck as he was falling to claw his team to victory at the end of the semester.
