Gallery: Field Hockey unable to break Harvard’s defense
Though the first period looked fairly even, a second-quarter onslaught of goals left Boston University’s field hockey team finishing with a 7-0 loss to the Harvard Crimson — the fourth-ranked team in the country. The Crimson only broke deadlock in the 14th minute of play, and the Terriers were able to match them in shots, at two a piece, by the end of the first quarter. The second quarter, however, was much different as Harvard outshot BU 9-1, and plummeted four goals past junior goalkeeper Sophie Ortyl and the Terrier defense. BU pushed in the second half, outshooting the Crimson 8-6, but were unable to find the back of the net. Harvard continued to capitalize in the final 30 minutes of the game, putting up another two goals.
