Gallery: Men’s hockey shuts out RPI in exhibition play
Boston University’s men’s hockey team wrapped up their first weekend at home shutting out the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Engineers 3-0. Junior defenseman Gavin McCarthy opened the scoring for the Terriers in the 16th minute of the second period by shooting the puck from the right circle before it deflected into the back of the net. In the 10th minute of the third period, sophomore defenseman Cole Hutson walked the puck across all three zones before slipping a pass over to freshman forward Jonathan Morello, who wristed it. With the Engineers trailing by two, they pulled their goalie, but freshman forward Ryder Ritchie was able to shoot the puck for an empty-netter. Junior goaltender Max Lacroix stopped all 21 shots he faced for his first shutout.
