Boston University Women’s Hockey (3-7-0, 2-6-0 HE) will have their first weekend road trip of the year as they face No. 13 University of Vermont Catamounts (7-4-1, 5-2-1 HE), with the first game starting on Friday.

“Vermont’s got a real good team. They had a big weekend this weekend,” BU Head Coach Brian Durocher said after Sunday’s loss. “We’re going to have to, again, continue to defend well. Continue to stand the defensive side of the puck and be opportunistic offensively.”

BU faced a massive step up in competition last weekend against No. 10/13 Providence, falling 3-2 in OT on Nov. 4 at Walter Brown Arena, and losing 4-1 on Nov. 5 on the road.

Junior forward Catherine Foulem led the Terriers with two goals over the weekend, one in each game. Foulem’s goal on Friday was a highlight-worthy effort that saw her knife through four members of Providence and score.

Junior forward Lacey Martin joined Foulem on the scoresheet over the weekend.

Graduate goaltender Andrea Brändli played in both weekend games for the Terriers against Providence, stopping 68 of 75 shots over the two games, and earning the first star during Nov. 4’s game after stopping 42 of 45 shots. Brändli comes into this weekend’s series with a 3-3-0 record, sporting a .938 save percentage and a 1.99 goals against average.

Vermont looks to continue its success after a dominant 2-0-0 weekend against the University of Maine. UVM won 6-1 on Nov. 4 and 7-2 on Nov. 5.

Graduate forward Theresa Schafzahl leads all of Hockey East in goals (10), and junior forward Natalie Mlynkova is tied for third in goals among HE skaters (8). Schafzahl’s 16 points rank third in HE scoring, and graduate student forward Corinne McCool’s eight assists rank sixth.

Junior goaltender Jessie McPherson has started all 12 games for Vermont, putting up a 7-4-1 record with a .902 save percentage and a 2.05 GAA.

BU and UVM played three times during the 2021-22 season, with a record of 1-1-1. Their Oct. game 29 saw a 1-1 tie, while the Feb. 11 matchup saw a 4-3 win for BU. UVM took the final matchup on Feb. 12, with a final score of 5-2.

The Terriers and Catamounts will face off Friday at UVM’s Gutterson Fieldhouse, with puck drop scheduled for 2 p.m Friday. Friday is UVM’s Military Appreciation Day, and Saturday will see the Catamounts host their annual Teddy Bear Toss.
