Field Hockey: Terriers look to extend unbeaten Patriot League run vs. Northeastern, Colgate

By India Clarke

Boston University Field Hockey (5-6, 3-0 PL) will stay close to home this weekend with a match against Colgate University (2-10, 0-2 PL) on Saturday and Northeastern University (2-8) on Sunday.

The game against the Colgate Raiders gives the Terriers an opportunity to increase their unbeaten run in the Patriot League, keeping them top of the leaderboard.

On Sunday BU will travel to Dedham to face Northeastern.

Last weekend was a success for the Terriers, beating American University 2-1. This was a vital win, as the top spot in the Patriot League was at stake. Senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly stood out with eight saves in the game, and she will be an important player in both the games this weekend.

Colgate University had a tough weekend last week, losing to Vermont 2-1 in double overtime before dropping a 5-3 game to Bucknell. BU has an 11-game win streak over the Raiders, and Colgate has lost both of their opening games in the Patriot League so far. A key Raider to watch out for on Saturday will be junior midfielder Ella Murphy, who has started the season well for Colgate with two assists and one goal last weekend.

Northeastern will be a tougher opponent to face, coming off a 2-1 win against Hofstra in their last match. BU is 25–28 against the Huskies all-time, but the Terriers have won seven of the last 10 matchups.
