At the Royale on February 9th, Still Woozy brought together an eclectic crowd of Bostonians to groove to his newest album “If This Isn’t Nice, I Don’t Know What Is.” Still Woozy’s album stays true to his signature sound and style: bass-heavy hits with a catchy chorus.

The show opener was Wallace, an up-and-coming indie band with original songs blending soul and rock to warm up the sold-out Royale venue. After Wallace’s performance, Still Woozy primed the crowd with smoke and electric pink lights before hitting the stage.

Still Woozy set the tone of his set by jumping onto the stage to start his first song, “Window.” The crowd was invigorated; Woozy with the help of his two equally energetic musicians continued surprising the crowd with dance breaks and engagement of the fans. The artist also showcased his range by playing the bass, guitar, and keyboard throughout the set.

Woozy wore a laid-back outfit juxtaposed nicely with his comfortability on stage. The graphics reflected behind Woozy and the adjacent walls were of colorful, hand-drawn sketches and lightly moving animations similar to his cover art on his hit singles like “Rocky” and “Lately EP.”

In the middle of the set, Woozy took to a change of pace from his many laid-back pop ballads and picked up an acoustic guitar to sing “Kenny.” Fans pulled out their flashlights and grazed the singer in lulled, swaying lights. A blanket of silence fell over the crowd as the graphics went black and the stage was only lit by a purple backlight. People grabbed their loved ones as they shared Woozy’s heartache in one of the most vulnerable songs from his new album.

Following the pivotal performance of “Kenny,” Still Woozy returned to his infectious energy and rocked with the crowd to several of his well-known hits like “Foolsong” and “Habit.” His accompanying musicians got solos, and the trio of musicians danced with passion as the show closed out. The encore performance of “Goodie Bag,” grossing almost 250 million streams on Spotify, solidified his love with the fans as he followed with special shoutouts to his team. Fans could feel his genuine nature and left the show feeling energized and grateful for the 5-star performance.
