Four Boston University women’s basketball players were named to the Patriot League’s all-conference teams Friday, the most honorees of any program in the league.

Junior guard Sydney Johnson was selected to the All-Patriot League First Team after averaging a career-best 16.1 PPG and 3.5 APG across the season. Johnson’s 17.1 PPG in conference play ranks third in the Patriot League.

Johnson was previously named to the All-PL Second Team and All-PL Rookie Team during her sophomore and freshman seasons, respectively. Johnson is the third BU player to earn a First Team selection; Johnson’s former teammate Katie Nelson was also named to the First Team last season.

Junior center Maren Durant earned a spot on the Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Durant averaged 9.1 rebounds per game across the regular season, including a 10.4 RPG mark against Patriot League opponents. She grabbed a career-high 17 boards against Army on Jan. 12, 2022.

Durant was selected to the Third Team last season as well. She also earned All-Defensive recognition during her freshman season in 2020.

Sophomore center Caitlin Weimar was BU’s second Third Team honoree. Along with Durant, BU’s two centers formed one of the most formidable frontcourt duos in the Patriot League.

Weimar recorded 8.6 RPG and 1.4 blocks per game, in addition to averaging a double-double during conference play.

The nomination is Weimar’s first award as a Terrier after transferring to BU last year; she was previously named MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year as a freshman at Marist College in 2021.

Freshman guard Alex Giannaros made the All-Rookie team after taking on an increased role in the Terrier offense as the season progressed. Giannaros averaged 10.2 PPG during the regular season and 12.9 PPG against conference opponents, the second-best mark among first-year players. She scored in double-digits 11 times, all during Patriot League play.

BU’s postseason begins Sunday with a quarterfinal matchup against Army West Point at Case Gym at 6 p.m.
