By Sasha Abrams

The Boston University Terriers last week of regular season games begins Tuesday at 4 p.m. with a contest against the Maine Black Bears.

After a weekend split with Vermont in which the Terriers ended the Catamounts nine-game win streak, The Boston University women’s ice hockey team (11-13-5, 10-8-4 HE) look to make their comeback on Maine (12-17-1, 10-12-1 HE) in a midweek matchup at Walter Brown Arena.

The last time the Terriers met with the Black Bears was earlier in the season on Nov. 19, when Maine scored three unanswered goals in the second to hand BU a 5-1 loss. The Terriers and Black Bears were previously scheduled to a match on Jan. 15, but due to COVID-19 protocols, the game was rescheduled for Tuesday’s date.

Since beating BU nearly three months ago, the Black Bears are 7-9-0 and 0-4 in their last four matches, falling to Northeastern and UVM, the Terriers’ latest win, in the two games of each weekend series.

Junior forward Ida Kuoppala leads the Black Bears in all three categories with nine goals, 12 assists, and 21 points. Senior forward Ali Beltz leads next in points with 15, scoring five goals and claiming 10 assists, while senior forward Ally Johnson totals 14 points with eight goals and six assists.

In the goal for Maine, graduate goaltender Loryn Porter has appeared in 23 out of 30 games holding a 9-10-1 record, a .927 save percentage, and a 2.33 goals-against average. Playing in 10 games, sophomore goaltender Jorden Mattison is 3-7-0 with a .908 save percentage and a 2.82 GAA.

The Terriers are led by senior forward Courtney Correia who earned 12 goals and 11 assists to total her 23 points. Next on top for points is junior forward Julia Nearis with 19 ( five goals, 14 assists), then senior forward Mackenna Parker with 17 (10 goals, seven assists).

BU senior goaltender Kate Stuart holds a 5-7-4 record with a .921 save percentage, and a 2.34 GAA across 16 games. Freshman goaltender Callie Shanahan has a 6-5-1 record over 12 games, with a .920 save percentage, a 2.49 GAA, and one shutout.

The puck will drop at 4 p.m. on Tuesday for the Terriers second to last home game of the regular season. BU will then close the season with Providence this weekend, set to play the Friars at their home on Friday at 6 p.m., before returning to Walter Brown for a 5 p.m. game on Saturday.
