Men’s Soccer: Terriers suffer 1-0 defeat to Holy Cross

The Boston University men’s soccer team fell to Holy Cross at rainy Nickerson Field on Wednesday night by a score of 1-0.

The Patriot League clash was the opening fixture of the annual Turnpike Trophy, comprised of several meetings between the Terriers and Crusaders in several Division I men’s and women’s sports.

Both sides entered the contest winless on the season, and the urgency for victory was apparent from the opening whistle. Holy Cross took the upper hand early, tallying what would prove to be the contest’s lone goal from close range in the game’s opening stages.

The Terriers would fight back after the halftime break thanks to a Crusader red card early in the second half, but ultimately BU could not come up with an equalizer and would fall to the resilient visitors one goal to nil.

BU will have the opportunity to turn the page quickly when the face Colgate on home turf this Saturday at 4pm.
