Women’s Hockey: Terriers Add New Director of Hockey Operations

By: Patrick Donnelly

Last week, Boston University Women’s Ice Hockey head coach Brian Durocher announced that the program has named Abby Ostrom as Director of Hockey Operations for the program.

Ostrom, a 2014 graduate of Trinity College and a dual sport athlete between hockey and softball, joins the Terriers after having served as an assistant coach with Trinity for the last four seasons. Before returning to coach at her alma mater, Ostrom was the director of men’s ice hockey operations and an assistant softball coach for Skidmoe College during the 2014-15 season. During the summers of 2015 and 2016, she worked as a coaching intern with the U-15 and U-18 groups at the USA National Development Camp in Minnesota; in 2017, she was a skills coach with the U-18 squad.

“We are excited to welcome Abby Ostrom to Boston University and our hockey program,” Durocher told GoTerriers.com. “She has done a fantastic job during her time at Trinity College and will bring many great qualities to this institution. I believe that her hockey knowledge, organizational skills and understanding of how to work with elite student-athletes will allow her to make a seamless transition to BU.” Ostrom is a 2019 graduate of the WeCoach NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy as well.

During her time as a student-athlete at Trinity, the Carlisle, Massachusetts native tallied 21 goals and 17 assists for 41 points in 80 career games. Ostrom, who is tied for the second-most game-winning goals in a single season for the Bantams, helped lead the team to four-straight NESCAC tournament appearances. On the diamond, Ostrom captained the Bantams’ softball team her senior year, and was an All-New England and three-time All-NESCAC player.
