Women’s Hockey: Terriers to honor three skaters on Senior Day

The streaking Terriers are seemingly a young bunch, after bidding farewell to a class of six senior in 2018, the Terriers will see off three skaters who will play their final regular season home game for BU.
Reagan Rust, Connor Galway and Mary Grace Kelley will be recognized pre-game Saturday (Feb. 23 at 3 p.m.) before the Terriers wrap up their regular season with a game against Providence College–a game that could have big implications on the Women’s Hockey East Standings going into the first round of the tournament.
But at least for the several minutes before puck drops at Walter Brown Arena, all attention will be on these three seniors for their contributions and accomplishments throughout their careers in scarlet and white.
#18 Reagan Rust, Defense
Rust transferred to Boston University during her junior year. She spent her freshmen and sophomore campaigns playing at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). In her first year as Terrier she scored a goal in her first game on Sept. 23, 2017 and matched her career highs in goals (5) assists (13) and points (18). This year as a senior she was voted captain alongside redshirt junior Sammy Davis and junior Natasza Tarnowski. Rust headlines the Terriers top defensive pairing and is an astonishing +15 rating (goal differential) on the season.
#26 Connor Galway, Defense
Galway is a four-year player for coach Brian Durocher and the Terriers. She is the other half of the team’s top defensive pairing and has established a name for herself as one of the defensive anchors on the blueline. Galway is known for her extensive work defensively, being a main component on the penalty kill and a selfless shot blocker in front of the net.
#24 Mary Grace Kelley
Kelley is the lone senior at the forward position for the Terriers. As another four-year player, Kelley has made contributions in all of her four campaigns. Amassing over 20 points in her career, Kelley set career highs in goals, assists and points as a junior with four goals and ten assists for fourteen points. As a senior, her loan goal was a big one proving to be the game winner against Holy Cross on January 18.
Of course these three skaters all share an incredible accomplishment in ending the 38-year drought of winning a Beanpot. They will surely look to continue adding to their legacies in their final season as the Hockey East Tournament approaches–adding on to what has already been a special 2018-19 season where the Terriers climbed back into the national conversation in women’s hockey.
