As the Boston University women’s basketball team (1-2) prepares to host Bryant University (2-2) on Tuesday night, the onslaught of injured players continues. After a high left ankle sprain suffered at Sunday’s practice, Vanessa Edgehill is set to become the fourth Terrier to miss time due to injury in just four games.

“I was right in front of the hoop, backpedaling, and someone ran up behind me,” said Edgehill. “I didn’t see them coming and I just rolled my ankle [on their foot].”

Edgehill is set to sit out at least a week, leaving the Terriers without the solid bench contributor and three-point shooter. Perhaps a bigger problem, BU is left with only three healthy guards (Payton Hauck, Lauren Spearman, Katie Nelson) for tonight’s action, all of whom are expected to start.

“We have a lot of our starters playing big minutes,” Edgehill said. “It’s early in the season, we’ve got to get through it. Once we get to the middle of the season it’s going to get tougher.”

Edgehill’s ankle sprain seems to have come at the right time in the season. The Terriers have Wednesday and Thursday off to celebrate Thanksgiving, and have eight full days until their next game.

Nevertheless, Edgehill joins three other teammates who have missed multiple games due to injury.

Freshman Audrey Nicholson will not see the court all season due to knee related issues. Freshman Riley Childs missed the first two games of the year because of shin splints, but is listed as healthy for tonight’s matchup with Bryant University.

Meanwhile, sophomore Tenisha Pressley, who had 15 points in 20 minutes last time the Terriers met the Bulldogs, is expected to be out for at least two more weeks because of a femur injury. On the bright side, BU still retains nine healthy players who are ready to roll against Bryant.

Who’s Coming in Hot? (statistics from the Terriers’ most recent game):
 – Nia Irving 16 points, 4 rebounds
 – Naiyah Thompson 13 points, 6 rebounds
 – Lauren Spearman 12 points, 7 rebounds

The Terriers come into Tuesday’s contest after a disappointing 68-57 loss to Marist last Friday. An impressive 50 percent from the field in the first half was met by an abysmal 28 percent shooting in the final two quarters. However, the Terriers shot an impressive 13-14 from the charity stripe, a clear point of positivity so far this season.

On the other side, Bulldog junior Sydney Holloway has hit her stride this season, averaging a team-high 19.3 points and 12.8 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, senior Haley Connors adds 14.3 ppg from the guard position.

The Terriers and the Bulldogs met last season in a 78-61 victory for the scarlet and white. The next installment of this dogfight tips off at 7:00 p.m. inside Case Gym on the campus of Boston University.
