The Boston University men’s basketball team made an addition and granted a promotion within head coach Joe Jones’ staff over the summer. Mike Quinn was hired as an assistant coach and John Papale ’16 moved from video coordinator to director of basketball operations.

Quinn spend the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Dartmouth College, and comes after former assistant Jack Perri departed to take a head coaching gig at Southern New Hampshire University. Like Perri, Quinn starred on the court at Bentley University in Waltham.

An assistant at Division II Stonehill College in Easton for three seasons following his collegiate career, Quinn served as the director of basketball operations for one season at both Fordham and George Mason prior to his stint at Dartmouth.

Jimmie Oakman left the director of basketball operations post after four seasons under Jones. He is now the head video coordinator for the Long Island Nets of the NBA G-League. Papale was the Terriers’ video coordinator in his first year on the staff a season ago, and assumes Oakman’s role for the 2018-19 campaign.

A four-year member of the team and two-time team MVP, Papale guided the Terriers to the second round of the 2016 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament in his senior year. Papale holds ranks of No. 1 all-time at BU in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.36), No. 2 in career treys (287) and tied-for-first in games played (129).
