MacLean Does It Again As Men’s Lacrosse Passes Bryant

Sophomore attack John MacLean may have scored the game-winner in overtime in the season opener, but it certainly wasn’t his last.

Just over 25 seconds into overtime of Tuesday night’s 8-7 win over Bryant University, the Medfield native ripped a laser for his fourth goal of the contest. The Terriers (3-2, 0-1 Patriot League) enjoyed MacLean’s four-goal outburst along with a pair from junior James Burr and one each from seniors Jack Wilson and Ryan Hilburn.

Freshman Chris Gray added four assists, Wilson had two helpers and goalkeeper Joe McSorley made 13 saves.

Bryant (2-3) took the game’s largest lead at 6-4 with 2:42 left in the third quarter on a goal by sophomore Trevor Weingarten. Seniors Cam Ziegler and Tom Kennedy netted a pair of goals each for the Bulldogs. Graduate student Kenny Masa controlled 15 of 19 faceoffs as Bryant dominated in that facet of the game.

Facing a two goal deficit, MacLean scored three of his four goals, including the winner and goal to tie it up at seven in the next 13:15 to will the Terriers to victory. BU continues their road trip with a 12:00 p.m Mountain Time visit to Air Force (1-3).
