Terriers look for Beanpot Title against Eagles

Coach Durocher and company will have their hands full against arch rival Boston College. The Terriers are looking to secure their first Beanpot title as a varsity program; their only previous title came back in 1981 when they were still a club team.

There’s going to be a clash of offensive super powers when the Terriers’ first line meets the Eagles’ first line. BC freshman Daryl Watts has been battling with Terrier senior Victoria Bach for the NCAA lead in goal scoring. Watts currently possess the top spot with 37 goals on the season, but Bach is not too far behind with 34.

Staying disciplined and off the penalty kill will be key to playing with the fourth-ranked Eagles. The Boston College power play is among the tops in the nation as it is headlined by Watts, senior Makenna Newkirk (19 G, 34 A, 53 pts) and Caitrin Lonergan (27 G, 38 A, 65 pts).

The Terriers will be competing in their first title game since the 2012 season; this will be the first title game matchup with the Eagles since 2007. It is worth noting that the Terriers lone Beanpot title came against the Eagles in that 1981 season.

The game will be played at Conte Forum on the campus of Boston College with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
