BU v Harvard

BOSTON — The Boston University women’s soccer team will play at their home field for the first time this month, as they prepare for their last non-conference match of the season against Harvard on Wednesday night.

The match will mark the 21st meeting between the two teams.  BU leads the all-time series with an 8-7-5 record, including six wins and a draw from the last ten contests. Last years matchup ended in a 2-2 tie, with current juniors Kelly Park and Shannon Keefe scoring for the Terriers at Harvard’s Jordan Field.

BU (5-6-3, 3-1-1 PL) will arrive back home eager to resume normalcy after having their five-match win and shutout streak snapped at Navy over the weekend. The Terriers prefer to call that loss, a 1-0 shutout, an interruption instead of an ending to their blazing run in conference play.

Prior to their defeat against the Mids, the Terriers were undefeated with four wins in their last five games in the Patriot League. They had not allowed a goal in almost 577 minutes. A win against Harvard would put them well back on track for another wildly successful campaign.

The Crimson (7-5, 1-2 Ivy) have been on-and-off  as of late. They will head to Nickerson Field posting three losses in their last five matches, beating Cornell, 3-1, in their most recent outing. Junior utility player Leah Mohammadi leads the team with four goals and two assists. Freshman Murphy Agnew will threaten the Terriers up front, with two goals and five assists under her belt already this season.

BU’s Christina Wakefield currently sits in third place on the Patriot League goalscoring list with four to her name. Senior midfielder Jesse Shreck has four assists, while star freshman Anna Heilferty has scored three and provided two assists. Keep an eye out on the midfield for Julianna Chen, whose hard tackles, constant hustle and leadership of the Terriers’ high press often provide an additional defensive wall ahead of the one established by BU’s back line.

Kickoff from Nickerson Field will be Wednesday at 7 P.M.
