Men’s Hockey: Final Bracket Projection

By: Dan Shulman

With the 2017 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Ice Hockey Selection show coming up on Sunday at noon, there’s a lot of questions surrounding which teams will be playing where come next weekend.

For Boston University, all four regional sites are statistically possible. There have been various projections of this bracket since the start of February and the day has finally come where it will be set in stone.

Number 1 Seeds

The four number one seeds this year will likely be Minnesota (B1G), Harvard (ECAC), Minnesota-Duluth (NCHC), and number-one overall seed Denver (NCHC).

The selection committee will be geographically placing these teams, prioritizing from highest to lowest.

West Regional – Fargo, ND – Friday/Saturday

**With North Dakota hosting this regional, it throws a wrench into placement as the Fighting Hawks will have to go there.

#1 Denver vs. #27 Michigan Tech
#8 Union vs. #10 North Dakota

Midwest Regional – Cincinnati, OH – Saturday/Sunday

#2 Minnesota-Duluth vs. #15 Ohio State
#7 Boston University vs. #9 Penn State

East Regional – Providence, RI – Friday/Saturday

#3 Harvard vs. #14 Providence
#6 Western Michigan vs. #12 Air Force

Northeast Regional – Manchester, NH – Saturday/Sunday

#4 Minnesota vs. #13 Notre Dame
#5 UMass-Lowell vs. #11 Cornell

**The two and three seeds could all be shifted around given the fluidity of the non-conference match-ups.
