Women’s Lacrosse: BU Gets Much Needed Win

By: Marisa Ingemi

BU needed a win, and with their overtime victory on Wednesday afternoon, it came at the right time. The Terriers took down the Stags of Fairfield University at Nickerson Field in overtime 10-9 off the stick of freshman Kailey Conroy.

There was 1:18 left in the first overtime by the time Conroy was able to get the Terriers into double digits. The win comes on the heels of losing two games in California last week to USC and San Diego State so it was a much needed victory.

Conroy notched five points for a career high in the win. She scored four points in the previous game as she’s begun to adjust to the college level.

The game was back and forth throughout, with no more than a two goal lead at any point in the contest.

Taylor Hardison added four assists while Elisabeth Jayne and Mickenzie Lairvee each scored twice. Caroline English also had two points, including the game winning assist.

Goalie Caroline Meegan made nine saves and allowed nine goals. The Terriers improved to 2-4 overall while the Stags fell to the same record.

BU hadn’t gone to overtime since 2015, when they defeated New Hampshire. The Terriers hope the victory can extend them on a run heading into conference play soon.
