1. Why should I submit my abstract to the Pardee Atlas Research Conference?
Submitting an abstract to the Conference allows you to gain experience presenting your work at an academic conference and an opportunity to receive constructive feedback on your research ideas. In addition, you’ll get to meet peers from the Global Affairs community who are engaged in exciting research.
2. Who can submit to the Conference?
The Conference is open to all graduate students, both Master’s and Doctoral candidates, in the Greater Boston area. Submissions must focus on issues related to Global Affairs and pertain to the annual theme. For the 2025 Conference, the theme is: “Exploring Global Intersections: Collaboration Across Cultures, Fields, and Frontiers.”
Papers submitted to the Conference can include MA papers/Theses, class papers, etc. The work must not have been published elsewhere prior to the Conference. All papers submitted are subject to The Pardee Atlas’ Diversity and Editorial Standards.
3. What is required of me to submit? And what is required on the day of?
To submit to the Conference, please complete this form asking you to share an abstract of less than 250 words to be featured in the Conference program and webpage.
On April 12, 2025, presenters must submit a draft of their paper that will be presented on the day of the conference. The paper must adhere to the submission guidelines for Advancing Human Progress research paper set by The Pardee Atlas Journal of Global Affairs. This includes the following:
- 2,500 – 4,000 words, 12-point font, Times New Roman, Double Spaced
- Properly cited in Chicago Manual of Style 17th Edition Notes-Bibliography format
4. What is the timeline for the Conference?
The conference will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Boston University Pardee School of Global Studies, 121 Bay State Road, Boston, MA. Presenters will be assigned a specific presentation slot on the day of the Conference and can present their topic via slides. More information on the Conference will be discussed with presenters in March 2025.
Here is an overall timeline of deadlines:
- Deadline for abstract submission: February 14, 2025
- Hear back from Conference Chair: February 28, 2025
- Deadline to submit a draft of the paper: April 12, 2025
- Conference Day: April 25, 2025
5. What kinds of research are expected to be presented at the Conference?
The Conference welcomes abstracts on different topics related to global affairs. As global affairs is interdisciplinary and can span many fields, submissions are open to graduate students from international relations, political science, environmental science, global economics, women and gender studies, etc. While some submissions will be ongoing, other finalized research will also be welcome at the Conference.
6. Can I submit and present more than one abstract/research topic?
Unfortunately, students can only submit one piece they would like to share at the Conference.
7. What is the deadline for submitting an abstract?
Abstracts for the 2025 Pardee Atlas Research Conference are due by midnight (EST) on February 14, 2025. To submit to the Conference, please complete this form asking you to share an abstract of less than 250 words to be featured in the Conference program and webpage.
