Gallery: Men’s hockey shutout by No. 11 Providence at home
Boston University fell 4-0 to No. 11 Providence on Saturday night at Agganis Arena after the Friars scored early and pulled away with three goals in the third period. Providence opened the scoring in the third minute the first period against the run of play, and despite an energized start and outshooting the Friars 33-26, BU was unable to beat Providence freshman goaltender Jack Parsons. The second period was scoreless and included a five-minute power-play opportunity for the Terriers following a Providence major penalty, but BU could not find the equalizer. Providence extended its lead in the 11th minute of the third period, added an insurance goal off a faceoff win in the 18th minute, and sealed the result with a late empty-netter after BU pulled sophomore goaltender Mikhail Yegorov for an extra attacker.
