Gallery: Women’s hockey plundered with goals from Northeastern in final trip to Matthews Arena
For the last time at Matthews Arena, Boston University’s women’s hockey team fell 7-3 to the Northeastern Huskies in another game marked by untimely penalties. The Huskies suffocated the Terriers initially, scoring four unanswered goals between the first and second period. BU, however, broke deadlock in the 12th minute of the second period. Senior forward Sydney Healey found the back of the net on a breakaway. Junior forward Greta Henderson, then, cut Northeastern’s lead in half in the 15th minute of the second period, cleaning up a rebound and making the score at 4-2. In the third period, the Terriers fell again to penalties: receiving a five-minute major for a check from behind. The Huskies scored twice on the person-advantage, but senior forward Clara Yuhn quickly fired a shot off a faceoff win in the 19th minute of the third period to make the score 6-3. Northeastern scored the final goal of the game: an empty-netter to end up with a final score of 7-3.
