Women’s Basketball: Terriers Open Season at Home Against Quinnipiac

By Matthew Wuschke
Boston University Women’s Basketball opens up their season with a home contest against Quinnipiac on Nov. 3rd. This is something new for both universities, with this matchup being the first ever between the Women’s teams.
The Terriers went 13-19 overall and 5-13 in Patriot League conference play in the 24-25 season, and are looking to turn things around this year. BU had a 7-8 record at home last season, and now they get to open the season where they had the most success.
BU is led by forward sophomore Allison Schwertner (8.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg), senior forward Anete Adler (8.1 ppg, 3.2 rpg), and junior forward
Sisi Bentley (5.9 ppg, 4.5 rpg). The Terriers are also getting back senior forward Anastasiia Semenova, who missed all of last year with an injury. Semenova started in 18 games and averaged 8 points in her Sophomore year.
The Terriers leading scorer from last year, Alex Giannaros (13.1 ppg, 2.5 rpg) graduated, so BU has to shape a new identity this season without having their proven go-to player. They will also be without junior guard Aoibhe Gormley, who will be injured through most of the non-conference schedule.
Quinnipiac went 28-5 overall and 18-2 in conference play last year, losing to Fairfield in the MAAC championship game. The Bobcats are led by junior forward/center Anna Foley (10.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg), guard Jackie Grisdale (10.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg), and junior guard Karson Martin (9.8 ppg, 3.1 rpg).
The Bobcats lost their leading scorer, Gal Raviv (17.9 ppg, 5.5 rpg) to the transfer portal, along with three graduating seniors.
The game will tip off from the Case Gymnasium at 6 p.m., and the game is available to watch on ESPN+.
