Boston University Men’s Basketball is set to begin the season with an away clash against the Northeastern Huskies on Nov. 3rd. This crosstown matchup marks the fourth year in a row the Terriers have opened their season against the Huskies. Last year, Northeastern won at BU 80-72.

BU went an even 16-16 overall in the 24-25 season, and are looking to continue their success in the Patriot League after finishing tied for fourth in the conference with a 10-8 record. The Terriers were ranked second in the 25-56 Patriot League Preseason Poll earlier this month.

The Terriers have ten players returning from the 24-25 season, six of which started in four or more games. Coach Joe Jones continued to bolster the roster with five new faces–four freshmen recruits and a sophomore transfer.

Junior guard Kyrone Alexander will be a key player for BU this year–Alexander was named on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team earlier this month and looks to continue to build on his success from last year. Alexander averaged 12.9 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game, and was named to the 2025 All-Patriot League Second Team.

Forward Malcom Chimezie (8.3 ppg, 5 rpg), junior guard Michael McNair (10.1 ppg, 40% 3PT), and sophomore guard Azmar Abdullah (6.8 ppg, 37% 3PT) will all be pivotal players in the Terriers success this year as well. A player that should be on all Terrier fan’s radar is sophomore forward Ben Defty (4.9 ppg, 2.6 rpg), who averaged 8.1 ppg and 6.6 rpg in the FIBA U20 Eurobasket tournament earlier this summer.

Northeastern went 17-15 overall, and 9-9 in conference play in the 24-25 season. The Huskies are led by guard LA Pratt (11.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg), guard William Kermoury (8.1 ppg, 1.6 rpg), and forward Youri Fritz (4.5 ppg, 3.6 rpg). The Huskies are currently leading the all time record against BU, at 77-75.

The game will tip off from Matthews Arena at 7:30 p.m., and available to watch on NESN FloCollege.
