Gallery: Women’s ice hockey edge Concordia with shootout victory
The Boston University women’s ice hockey team narrowly beat the Concordia University Stingers in an exhibition matchup through a shootout victory. The Stingers put themselves on the scoreboard early, with a power play goal in the sixth minute. However, senior forward Luisa Welcke responded for the Terriers in the 10th minute. In the second period, sophomore forward Lola Reid scored a power play goal 11 minutes in and freshman in the 13th minute, forward Lexie Bertelsen added another tally to give the Terriers a 3-1 lead. Concordia answer with their second goal seconds later and tied the game in the last minute of the period. Both teams scored in the third period, with senior forward Clara Yuhn finding the net for BU in the 10th minute of the period. Luisa Welcke and Bertelsen both converted their shootout attempts, while freshman goaltender Jackie Wright saved both attempts she faced to give Terriers the win.
