Wet Leg @ Roadrunner 9/14

This past Sunday, Wet Leg brought their Moistourizer tour to Boston’s Roadrunner for a nearly sold-out show. The band blew up in 2022 after forming during the Covid-19 pandemic. The group consists of vocalist and guitarist Rhian Teasdale, guitarist Hester Chambers, drummer Henry Holmes, bassist Ellis Durand, and keyboardist and guitarist Josh Mobaraki. Their first two singles as a band, “Chaise Longue” and “Wet Dream,” went viral, and the the group propelled into the spotlight. Since their first self titled album, fans have been wondering what could possibly come next. What came next was the group leaning even deeper into their rock influences to create a delightfully energetic second release in “Moisturizer.”

The band certainly did not disappoint the Boston crowd, starting their set with strobing lights to play “Catch These Fists.” And don’t worry, fans in the front were kindly provided with sunglasses to combat the flashes.

After starting with a bang, the group never let up their energy. Fans swayed, danced and screamed their hearts our to “Ur Mum” throughout the night. Wet Leg graced the stage with their easy charm and tongue in cheek lyricism.
The band’s energy was contagious, and I highly recommend hitting a show if you’re ever lucky enough for them to pay a visit to your town. But until then, you’ll have to satisfy yourself by listening to “Moisturizer” on repeat.
