Gallery: Women’s ice hockey defeats Providence

The Boston University women’s ice hockey team defeated Providence 4-1, completing a season sweep. After a scoreless first period, Providence took a 1-0 lead in the second. BU responded with three unanswered goals in the third, including a shorthanded goal, before sealing the win with an empty-netter. Sydney Healey scored twice, while Maeve Carey and Alex Law each added one goal. Carey’s goal was her first as a Terrier and the game-winner. Mari Pietersen made a career-high 36 saves. Providence outshot BU 37-21, but BU won 24 of 42 faceoffs and blocked 23 shots. The win marks BU’s 20th of the season, making them the first Hockey East team to reach this milestone.
