Boston University Women’s Basketball (8-13, 2-8 PL) is preparing for their second matchup this season against the Holy Cross Crusaders (14-7, 7-3 PL) on Saturday, Feb. 8. This is anticipated to be a contest between two teams with contrasting fortunes this season.

In their most recent matchup against the Crusaders on Jan. 27, the Boston University Terriers secured a narrow 52-49 victory over the Holy Cross Crusaders at Case Gym. After their close 68-72 loss to Loyola Maryland last week, the Terriers are hungry for an upset.

Though they have faced some challenges this season, the Terriers are resilient. Senior guard Alex Giannaros has been a standout both offensively and defensively. In their last matchup against Holy Cross, Alex Giannaros scored 21 points. The Terriers will look to Giannaros and others like Allison Schwertner to drive their offense.

Despite strong individual performances, BU has struggled with shooting consistency. They have excelled, though, in their free throw shooting, with the team making 69.7% of their attempts this season. If the Terriers can get to the line against Holy Cross, the Crusaders might be in for a tough game.

Holy Cross enters this matchup sitting in the upper tier of the Patriot League. They are led by Junior guard Simone Foreman, who has been averaging 16.1 points per game. She is supported by Senior forward Lindsay Berger, who averages 11.2 points per game and is shooting 50.9% from the field.

Despite their strong offensive play, Holy Cross has shown some vulnerability on defense, allowing 56.5 points per game. They will need to clean up their defensive schemes to avoid letting BU’s offense, particularly scoring threat Alex Giannaros, find rhythm.

The Boston Terriers’ faceoff against Holy Cross will take place at Hart Center Arena and it will be streamed live on ESPN+. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.
