Boston University’s Men’s Basketball (11-11, 5-4 PL) looks to be back on track after back to back home wins, and hopes to keep up the winning streak when they travel to play the sliding Loyola Maryland Greyhounds (8-12, 3-6 PL) who are entering on a three game losing streak.
The Terriers held their undefeated home record in Patriots League play as they were able to hold off both the Bucknell Bison and the Holy Cross Crusaders at Case Gymnasium.
The two wins could not have come any differently, as against Bucknell, the Terriers would trail nearly the entire game before forcing overtime and finding the win, 89-85. While against Holy Cross the Terriers would take the lead less than three minutes into the game, and never trail for the rest of the outing, winning 69-59.
These wins to not only move them to .500 on the year but to also put them right in the thick of the Patriots League playoff picture, as they currently hold the fourth seed. With usual Patriot League powerhouse Colgate University currently slipping, the Terriers hope to end their reign of five championships in six years, and win BU its first title since 2020.
If the Terriers look to have a chance they will need the fantastic play of the team’s scoring leader, sophomore Kyrone Alexander to continue. Alexander led in scoring in both wins, putting up 15 and 16 points respectively, to go along with five rebounds in each contest.
But one of the more overlooked aspects of this game is the turnover battle between both teams, with the Terriers currently ranking second in turnovers per game in the Patriots League, and the Greyhounds ranking second in turnovers forced per game in the Patriots League. The Terriers will have to take care of the ball if they hope to have a chance in Baltimore.
Tip-Off is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at Reitz Arena. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN +.
