Boston University Men’s Basketball (5-7, 0-0 PL) will conclude its non-conference schedule against the University of Maine (8-6, 0-0 AL East) on Dec. 29 at Memorial Gym in Orono, Maine.

The Terriers, currently ranked fifth in the Patriot League, look to rebound after an 83-71 loss to UMass Lowell on Dec. 21.

Despite shooting 62.1% in the second half, BU couldn’t keep pace with the River Hawks, who lead the America East standings. Maine sits in third place.

Graduate student guard Miles Brewster led the Terriers against UMass Lowell with a season-high 19 points. Senior forward Malcolm Chimezie and sophomore guard Kyrone Alexander added 12 points each.

Maine also enters the matchup following a close 74-72 loss to Stony Brook on Dec. 21.

Black Hawks graduate student guard Kellen Tynes and junior guard Jaden Clayton each scored 15 points, while senior guard AJ Lopez contributed 13. Senior forward Christopher Mantis added 11 points, and senior guard Quion Burns led the team with seven rebounds.

This season, Chimezie and Alexander have been key rebounders for the Terriers, averaging 5.6 and 4.9 rebounds per game, respectively. Freshmen guard Azmar Abdullah (6.3 points per game) and forward Ben Defty (5.1 points per game) have also made notable contributions in their first year.

Abdullah also earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Nov. 25 after delivering consistent performances across three games. Abdullah averaged 10.3 points per game while shooting an efficient 60% from the field and 58.3% from beyond the arc, helping BU secure two victories earlier in the season.

In last season’s meeting, Maine defeated BU 74-65. Tynes led the Black Bears with 21 points, while the Terriers were paced by Alexander, who scored 13.

Maine also benefited in that game from standout performances by now-graduated players Peter Filipovity and Ja’Shonte Wright-McLeish, while BU has worked to fill roles left by their own graduates.

The Terriers will face the Black Bears on Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gym, with the matchup streaming on ESPN+ and SNY.
