Many of the best U.S. men’s hockey prospects will descend on Agganis Arena Friday night as the U.S. U18 National Development team comes to town for an exhibition matchup against the No. 13 Boston University Terriers.

BU is coming off a 4-2 come-from-behind bounce-back win over the University of Massachusetts Minutemen on Wednesday (WTBU). The Hutson brothers led the way for the Terriers, with Cole potting the second and third goals before Quinn capped off the scoring en route to a combined six points.

Meanwhile, the USNTDP comes into the matchup following a 3-1 home win on Wednesday over the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks, where future Terrier forward Jack Murtaugh tallied two assists.

This year’s USNTDP team features three other future Terriers– forward Conrad Fondrk, along with defenders Charlie Trethewey and Carter Amico (The Rink). Murtaugh, Fondrk, and Trethewey are all scheduled to come to Comm Ave next season, while Amico will join the squad for the 2026-27 season.

BU and the USNTP have faced three common opponents this season: the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the University of Michigan Wolverines, and the Harvard University Crimson. The Terriers topped the Crimson in the shootout (official score 2-2), lost to the Wolverines twice (5-1 followed by a 5-4 OTL), and took down the Fighting Irish in Ireland 4-3. Meanwhile, the USNTP lost all three games, with Notre Dame defeating them 5-2 and Harvard and Michigan both narrowly toppling them 5-4.

The last time these two teams faced off was on October 14, 2023, with the USNTP dominating BU, 8-2. The Americans were led by their trio of then-Terrier commits, Cole Eiserman, Cole Huston, and Kamil Bednarik, who combined for five goals and five assists. The game featured a whopping 31 minor penalties (eight of which were called at the final buzzer), one major and three misconducts (including two at the buzzer).

Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. ET. Streaming will be available on on ESPN+.
