Boston University Women’s Basketball (2-3, 0-0 PL) will host the Rider University Broncs (1-4, 0-0 MAA) in a matchup on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Case Gymnasium.

The Terriers are ranked seventh in the Patriot League and are coming off a disappointing loss against the Georgetown Hoyas. Come Sunday, they’ll look to bounce back and improve their record to .500.

The Broncs rank in the eighth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic conference and are currently on a three-game losing streak. Their only win was on Nov. 12 against Long Island University.

The two teams played only once against each other in history on Nov. 18, 2023. Rider University was both the host and the side that won the match with the score 58-55.

The Terriers will play for the first time against the Broncs with home-court advantage and will look for their first win in their head-to-head record.

The Terriers’ senior guard Alex Giannaros, the captain of the team, is playing an outstanding season so far and is the scoring leader of the team with 16.5 points per game. The captain scored 20 points or more in three of the five games and scored 20 and 24 points in the last two games consecutively.

Besides the hot streak of Giannaros, freshman forward Allison Schwertner is the only other player averaging double-digit points per game. Schwertner averaged 10.0 points per game so far, and in addition to that she leads the team in rebounds and steals averaging 5.3 and 2.5 per game. Her two-way contribution was so critical for the Terriers this season.

For Rider, Gabby Turco is the biggest offensive threat who averages 16.4 points per game. The Broncs are struggling this season in offense; they couldn’t score more than 60 points in the four games they lost.

They need their other players to score double-digit points consistently. Camryn Collins and Mariona Cos-Morales are the usual suspects for that role who average 9.6 and 7.8 points per game consecutively.

The Terriers will face the Broncs on Dec. 1 at 1 p.m. at Case Gymnasium, with the matchup streaming on ESPN+.
