Boston University Men’s Basketball (3-4, 0-0 PL) will matchup against the Sacred Heart Pioneers (2-5, 0-0 MAAC) on Dec. 1 at Case Gymnasium after picking up some momentum in their last few games.
Coming off back to back wins from last weekend’s UMBC Multi-Team event, the red hot Terriers will look to make it three in a row against the also promising Pioneers.
After winning two of their past three, Sacred Heart is looking to start their own win streak. The Pioneers have yet to win on the road which should be a promising stat for a Terriers team looking to reach .500 again.
These two teams met for the first time in their history last year in Connecticut, in a game where the Terriers would outscore the Pioneers by 20 in the second half en route to a 70-49 victory.
The Terriers would like a repeat of last year’s performance, and adding to that hope is the return of that game’s top scorer, sophomore forward Matai Baptiste.
Sacred Heart is led by the junior forward duo of Anquan Hill and Tanner Thomas, who lead the Pioneers in points this year. Thomas was able to put up 18 points and Hill pitched in with eight off the bench to lead Sacred Heart to a 67-54 win their last time out.
The Terriers will look for freshman guard Azmar Abdullah to provide a spark off the bench again, after having 21 points while only taking nine shots last game. The Rhode Island native had been waiting for a game to showcase his talents, and when given the green light to shoot he made the most of it and was integral to the Terriers winning their last game at home.
Sophomore guard Kyrone Alexander, who currently leads the Terriers in scoring, will like to keep up his scoring averages after having double digit points in five out of the Terriers first seven games.
Alexander will most likely have an ample opportunity being guarded by Pioneers freshman Mekhi Connor, who despite his rookie status leads them in assists.
Tipoff for this New England matchup will be at 4:00 pm in the Case Gym, and will be streamed live on ESPN +.
