The Boston University Terriers (6-7, 3-2 PL) look for their second win this weekend against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (6-8) Sunday afternoon. This marks the 49th matchup between the two teams.
BU broke their three-game losing streak and came out with a 3-1 win over Colgate Friday evening, pushing them closer to the Patriot League Tournament. Meanwhile, the Wildcats lost in overtime to the University at Albany 3-2.
This matchup will be New Hampshire’s sixth game at home in a row, as well as part of their Homecoming Weekend. BU has won seven out of the last eight matchups with UNH, including a 3-2 home win last season.
Senior Payton Anderson continues to be a standout for the Terriers, scoring a pair of goals in Friday’s game, pushing her to 10 this season, making her third in the Patriot League.
Wildcat Tasmin Cookman and Freshman goalkeeper Abby Johnson were named Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week by America East last week. Kathelijne Knuttel leads the team in points with 27, and Cookman follows closely behind with 22. Johnson has played 13 out of 14 games this season and is expected to start for the Wildcats. She has a save percentage of .594 and a 2.55 goals-against average.
Goaltender Kate Thomason has started the past 11 games in goal for the Terriers and is expected to start Sunday, with a 2.31 goals against average and a .733 save percentage, career highs for her.
Both teams have strong goaltenders, and they will rely on their forwards to get a lot of shots on goal for scoring opportunities. BU looks to stay in the win column to finish off the last few games of their season before the Patriot League championships.
The Terriers will face the Wildcats in Durham, NH on Oct. 20th at 2 p.m. with the matchup streaming on AmericaEast.TV.
