Coming off of two back-to-back losses against No.9 Harvard and American, the Boston University Terriers (5-6, 2-2 PL) are looking to get back in the win column as they take on cross-town rivals the Northeastern Huskies (7-6, 2-1 CAA) on Sunday.
The Terriers are reaching a pivotal point in their schedule as the end of the regular season looms near, with only four games following the matchup against the Huskies, two of which are key Patriot League conference games against Colgate and Lafayette.
The history between the two teams has remained remarkably symmetrical, with Northeastern’s 28 wins in the series only just beating out BU’s 27. The Terriers have won eight of ten of their most recent matchups with the Huskies.
Despite the two recent losses, BU has seen a bright spot in their goaltender, Kate Thomason, who only allowed four total goals across the two contests, boasting a 0.744 save percentage.
The Terriers have struggled with sustaining offensive pressure, only netting one goal between the two games.
An offensive standout for BU in the second part of the season has been Natalie Epperson, who scored the Terrier’s lone goal against Harvard, adding onto her two goals scored in the previous matchup, a 3-2 win against Holy Cross.
Northeastern is currently riding a four-game win streak, recently securing a 3-1 win this past Friday against Towson.
A name to watch is the Huskies captain Lauren Rowe, who has been named the CAA’s Offensive Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks, leading her team in points and shots on goal.
BU will take on the Huskies in a 1 p.m. matinee matchup on Sunday, Oct. 13 at New Balance Field, with footage available to stream on ESPN+.
