Gallery: Northeastern defeats BU for Beanpot Championship in OT

The Northeastern University Huskies collected its ninth Beanpot championship–its fifth in just the last six tournaments–in overtime against the Boston University Terriers this past Monday at TD Garden.

The Terriers were the first to score with a goal from Freshman forward Macklin Celebrini. In the second, both teams added two points to the scoreboard, alternating between Northeastern leveling the score, and BU reclaiming their advantage. The Terriers had a 3-2 lead heading into the third period.

A power-play goal in the third by Northeastern’s Jack Williams evened the score again. Neither team could pull ahead during regulation which sent the teams into a 3-on-3 battle in overtime. Northeastern ended the game in the last 30 seconds of OT with a goal from Senior forward Gunnarwolfe Fontaine.
