Gallery: BU falls to Northeastern in Beanpot Semifinals

In the 70th Edition of The Beanpot, and the first edition of The Dunkin’ Beanpot, the #3 Boston University men’s hockey team (20-7-0, 14-4-0) stumbled in the semifinal round, losing 3-1 to #20/17 Northeastern.

The Huskies (14-10-3, 11-5-2 HE) got their first lead of the game late in the first, as captain Aiden McDonough’s shot from the left hashmarks found its way past BU’s Drew Commesso. Northeastern doubled their lead with Jakov Novak cleaning up a rebound early in the second.

BU got on the board nearing the end of regulation, the net empty, with Matt Brown’s wrister through traffic cutting the lead in half. Northeastern’s Hunter McDonald notched his first career goal with the game-sealing empty-netter with thirty seconds remaining in the period.
