Field Hockey: Terriers To Close Regular Season vs. Bucknell
By Alexa Podalsky
Boston University Field Hockey (8-8, 4-1 PL) will travel to Pennsylvania to play the Bucknell Bisons (5-11, 3-2 PL) in their final game of the season on Sunday at 11 a.m.
BU is coming off a 3-1 loss against the No. 21 Boston College Eagles after losing momentum going into the second half of the game.
Bucknell is coming off a 3-2 win against the Lock Haven Bald Eagles. While their record is modest, the Bison have battled through a decently hard schedule, which included No. 9 Louisville and No. 4 Penn State.
Additionally, the Bethlehem, Pennsylvania-based team had a 2-1 win against Lafayette earlier in the season, which was the Terriers’ only loss within the Patriot League.
Players to look out for this week are sophomore forward Payton Anderson and senior goalkeeper Caroline Kelly. Both players have received another weekly honor from the Patriot League this season.
Anderson had an impressive performance against the University of Maine Black Bears on Oct. 18, where she scored her first collegiate hat trick. She then raised her goal count for the season to eight against the Eagles. She has been awarded both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week at different points this season.
Kelly received two Goalkeeper of the Week awards this month. She saved 25 total shots in the games against Maine and BC. Kelly’s save percentage is at .785 after she set a season-high of 13 on Sunday.
In order to secure a win, the Terriers should look out for Bucknell sophomore forward Lily Neilson. This season, she has led the scoresheet for the Bisons with a 0.593 shot-on-goal percentage and 13 goals.
The conference matchup will take place on Sunday at 11 a.m. before the Terriers head to the Patriot League Tournament.
