Boston University men’s basketball (15-8, 6-4 PL) extended its winning streak to four consecutive games, taking down the Colgate Raiders (8-11, 4-2 PL) 76-72 at home on Friday afternoon.

Hot-shooting and solid defense gave BU an advantage in the first half, as the Terriers finished the period shooting 55.2% from the field and holding Colgate under 30%. The Terriers also collected 23 first-half rebounds and blocked seven shots.

However, BU had to battle to finish the game, scoring only five points in the final four and a half minutes. All five of these points came from free throws, which became a crutch for BU in its limp to the finish line.

The Terriers did not make a basket for the final 7:19 of the game — which saw an 0-6 stretch from the field and three missed free throws — and scored their final 11 points from the charity stripe.

Graduate center Sukhmail Mathon put together another solid game, posting 22 points and 11 rebounds for his twelfth double-double of the season.

Graduate guard Javante McCoy added 17 points of his own, and freshman forward Malcolm Chimezie put up a career-high nine rebounds.

BU takes on Holy Cross on Monday at 7 p.m.
