Women’s Hockey: Terriers return to conference play against Vermont, Providence
By Stevie Potter
The Boston University Terriers (4-1-2, 3-0-2 HE) are set to take on the University of Vermont Catamounts (4-2-0, 2-0-0 HE) and the Providence Friars (3-1-2, 2-0-0 HE) this Halloween weekend.
Last weekend the Terriers were 1-1-0, losing 4-2 to RPI (4-4-0) on Oct. 22, and coming back to beat Union (2-6-1) 4-1 the following night.
BU went 6-for-6 on the penalty kill against Union and continuing that streak will be key this weekend if the Terriers are looking to add two more tallies to the win column.
Puck drop against the Catamounts will take place at 6 p.m. at Walter Brown Arena on Friday.
Vermont is coming off two wins last weekend against Merrimack (0-8-1), a 2-1 victory, and Holy Cross (1-7-0), a 4-2 win. Their point leader is sophomore Natalie Mlynkova, who has seven points (3g, 4a) in six games.
In terms of point leaders, BU has them beat with their highest-scoring skater Courtney Correia, who has 11 points (6g, 5a) in six games.
This Sunday, the Terriers will have a 3 pm Halloween match against the Providence Friars. The Friars are coming off a weekend eerily similar to that of the Terriers, beating Union 2-1 on Oct. 22 and losing 2-0 to RPI on Oct. 23.
Hayley Lunny leads the Friars in points with five points (3g, 2a) in six games played. Friars starting goaltender Sandra Abstreiter has been stellar in net as of late. She currently posts an impressive .958 save percentage.
Providence will have time to rest up before the Terriers head to Rhode Island, as this is their only game of the weekend.
Sunday’s afternoon game will be broadcast on NESN at 3 p.m.
