Men’s Hockey: BU will not play any games in 2020

The Boston University men’s hockey team will have to wait even longer to kick off the 2020-21 season. The team will not play any games until at least Jan. 1, the team announced Wednesday.
“The team will focus on completing the semester and final exams during the weekend of Dec. 18-19, as this was previously deemed to be a non-competition weekend,” said BU Athletics in a press release. “The student-athletes will return to campus at the end of the month to prepare for the new January start to their season.”
The news comes after BU had to call off its game with Connecticut, which was scheduled for last Saturday at 2:30 p.m., after a member of the program tested positive for coronavirus. The Terriers’ two-game series with Massachusetts this week was originally still on as planned, but that is now off as well.
The Terriers were already false-started this season after Vermont delayed the start of its winter sports until Dec. 18, postponing what would have been the season-opening series for BU on the road, which would have began last Friday.
