Women’s Hockey: Compher notches 100th career point in Saturday’s win over BC

With two secondary assists on Saturday’s 2-1 win over BC after a goal and an assist in Friday’s 6-0 victory over the Eagles, Boston University junior forward Jesse Compher earned her 100th career point as Terrier, joining the the likes of Victoria Bach, who is the program’s all-time points leader with 198, Marie-Philip Poulin (181), Rebecca Leslie (171) and more in the BU record books.

“[Getting my 100th point] felt pretty good, but honestly I’m just happy to get the win,” Compher said on Saturday. “I don’t think it was our best game out there, but we came away with two points and four points on the weekend, so I’m pretty stoked about that.”

After missing the first month of the season with a lower-body injury, Compher has come on strong of late with six goals and six assists for 12 points in her last five games, making for 13 total points (7g, 6a) in eight games on the season.

“[Compher’s 100th point] is so awesome! I’m so proud of Jesse and she deserves it,” said redshirt senior captain Sammy Davis, who has 121 points (and counting) of her own. “She’s a great player, and I enjoy playing with her. We have a great connection.”

“I’m super proud of her. It’s unreal.”

Compher was a second team All-American last season after finishing with 17 goals and 44 assists for 61 points, which was the most points in Hockey East and third-most in the nation. Compher’s 44 assists were the second-most in Division I last season as she finished as a top 10 finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award.

“Great stuff to see,” head coach Brian Durocher said of Compher’s milestone. “Great for Jesse. We’ve had a few others here in the short history of this program, but it’s great to add a kid who’s a high-end player and see her continue to have success.”
