Men’s Soccer: Head coach Neil Roberts calls it a career after 40 years

After 40 years with the BU Men’s Soccer program, head coach Neil Roberts announced on Monday that he will be retiring from the Terrier technical area. Roberts spent 35 years as the team’s head coach.

“I’m privileged to have spent my entire coaching career at Boston University,” said Roberts in an article released by BU Athletics. “I will miss my interactions with the students and their families but now look forward to the next chapter in my life.”

In his time at BU, Roberts took his team to 14 national tournaments, winning seven Patriot league tournaments and 12 regular season conference titles. Over his tenure, he coached 12 All-Americans, 93 all-region players, 134 all-conference award-winners, and ten academic All-American honorees. Roberts himself was recognized with 17 coaching awards.

According to BU director of athletics Drew Marrochello, “[Roberts] was a mentor to many staff members and his personality will be greatly missed around the department.”
