Women’s Hockey: No. 9 Terriers clash with No. 4 Northeastern
By: Patrick Donnelly
Head coach Brian Durocher and the No. 9 Boston University Terriers (5-1-1, 2-1-1 HEAW) will clash with the No. 4 Northeastern University Huskies (5-1-0, 2-1-0 HEAW) in a home-and-home weekend set.
The Terriers are among the hottest teams in the nation as they remain unbeaten in their last four games after a relatively disappointing 1-1-1 start to the season. BU took care of Penn State handedly in last weekend’s two-game sweep after taking down UConn and Maine in convincing fashion to pick up their first two in-conference wins the weekend prior.
Junior goaltender Corinne Schroeder has been a force in net for the Terriers as her .956 save percentage and 1.18 goals-against average are among the best in the nation. Offensively, redshirt senior captain Sammy Davis and sophomore Kaleigh Donnelly have been lethal up front for BU as they each have eight points in seven games so far this season. On the backend, senior Abby Cook has been quite the facilitator for the offense with seven points of her own, including three goals.
For Northeastern, junior netminder Aerin Frankel has not missed a beat as she boasts a .948 save percentage to go along with a 1.19 GAA, both of which also rank among the nation’s best. Chloe Aurard and Alina Mueller have been as dangerous as ever for the Huskies with nine points on the season so far for Aurard compared to Mueller’s 15. The Terriers will have their hands full with Mueller, as she is fresh off a sensational month of October as she picked up Hockey East Women’s Player of the Month honors.
The two sides are set to kick things off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena before things shift to Northeastern for a Saturday matinee set for 3:30 p.m. at Matthews Arena.
